Today we are headed to Argentina to a dog shelter that cares for 500 dogs! We will learn about the creative ways this shelter has increased adoptions, particularly of disabled dogs. To show how lovable and happy these dogs are, every year the shelter El Campito hosts a Disabled Dog Parade.
Our hosts also discuss the poor conditions of some of the underfunded and overcrowded dog shelters in the country and how police carry out raids on backyard breeders. Many of the rescued dogs, like the 97 Doxens featured in this episode, get sent to the shelter for rehabilitation. El Campito knows that saving dogs is only half the job. To improve conditions for dogs across Argentina they also need to educate the public.
